So, well done Bloom Into You, this made me smile so much. And, like many asexual people, she does engage in some physical activities because she knows that her partner enjoys it. That was really quite refreshing. During the series, we meet Riko Hakozaki and Miyako Kodama.
She lives above the family bookstore, where she occasionally works. And boy does it cause issues in real life too. The key being that, despite stereotypes, Riko is more than happy being with just Miyako. You see, Yuu has been raised on the standard romance stories.
Like I said, she clearly has romantic feelings for Touko, but she has no real desire for physical closeness. Yuu Koito (小糸 侑 Koito Yū) is a lesbian character from Bloom Into You. Yuu is a first year high school student who doesn't know what it's like to fall in love.
That is, on a base level, asexuality in a nutshell. You. One is going to bloom into you. You can mean the clueless gay top in the titular series, but it is more popularly used as a term british gay films refer to the person one is talking to.
This is, of course, not what all lesbians think. I touched on this briefly in my reviewbut I wanted to talk a little more in-depth about the representation in the excellent Bloom Into You. In particular, the way it deals with some sides of the LGBTQ community that are often either misunderstood or outright erased.
Throughout the story, it is clear that she has feelings for Touko. It's no longer fully gay, and the next part really hammers home this fact. Bi erasure is something I wrote about back in The possibility that they may be interested in more than one gender never really comes up.
