Hay gay
Making Gay History is a team effort. Leaves Stanford in February to recover from a sinus infection in Nevada. In January is introduced to writer Reginald LeBorg and collaborates on several projects, including Heavenly Music, which later receives an Oscar for best short subject.
Begins affair with leading man Will Geer. His father arranges a job at a downtown law firm. In February is cast by the Tony Pastor Theatre as comedy lead and in character roles. Is unable to return for financial reasons. Father defends him against attempted blackmail.
Performs percussion for the Lester Horton Dance Theater.
Has affair with Stanley Haggart. In October, attends first Communist Party meeting. After working during the summer in Nevada, returns to Los Angeles via coastal streamer and has his first adult sexual experience with a sailor named Matt. At Stanford, has affair with Smith Dawless and discovers acting talent.
Henry Hay Jr. (April 7, – October 24, ) was an American gay rights activist, communist, and labor advocate. Harry Hay, American gay rights activist who believed that homosexuals should see themselves as an oppressed minority entitled to equal hay.
Has affair with James Broughton. Harry Hay was one tough sissy. In July, travels with Geer to perform agit-prop in San Francisco General Strike; witnesses police firing upon strikers. Family moves to S. Windsor Boulevard. In spring, observes Hopis perform ceremonies at a local beach and then dance for his Western Rangers group. Starts high school. Hay has been described as "the Founder of the Modern Gay Movement" [3] and "the father of gay liberation.
Carries petitions on behalf of Hopis. Becomes active in the Hollywood Film and Photo League. He acted on his convictions and in large measure prompted the dramatic changes in the status of homosexuals that took place in the U.S. in the second half of the 20th century.
In March, father suffers a major stroke. Is taken to a gathering of local Indians and blessed by an elder known as Jack Wilson i. Becomes the male understudy for eight actors in George K. Becomes bass soloist in a Latvian choir. Enters Stanford University.
He cofounded the Mattachine Society, the first sustained gay rights group in the Gay States, as well as the Radical Faeries, a loosely affiliated gay spiritual movement. Father suffers a second stroke.
